I made this a few weeks ago for Easter I think. I caught her out in the yard on the first night of Spring. The fairies were having a party and little Lily said she wanted to come live with me on my desk.
I'm SO EXCITED!!! I made a few pages of my first art journal. I followed some of the steps from Teesha Moore, the queen of journaling and zettiology. I had so much fun. I got a cheepie 140lb press watercolor booklet from Hobby Lobby 8.5x5.5 and used watercolors as the base on each page. I did 10 pages as Teesha recommends and then sat up til 2am on Saturday cutting out pictures, drawing etc. I normally go to bed at 10pm so this was crazy!! I've only journaled on a couple pages so far. Can't wait to do more.
PLUS I just joined Suzi Blu'sAcademy. YAY!! I don't know how I found her. I think a link from someone's website. I saw a couple of her videos and fell in love. She's hysterical wearing her pink wigs and I love the way she talks. She has a great personality, and is so talented. She builds confidence in people and thats what I need. I always say "I'm not a real artist" blah blah. I've signed up for the beginner class "Petit art dolls" so I can learn the basics of the style and plan on taking all her classes.
Anyway, here's a couple pics from my journal. I posted all of them on Flickr
Ok, it's been a LONG time since I posted anything. I've been creative (off and on) but forgot about the blog. Here's a card I made for my sweet regional manager. She surprised me this weekend with a lovely card and gift. Since we work for AFLAC, the duck image inspired me. The image is from Land of Nod Studios.
Also, I made a digital collage a couple of weeks ago since there is an Alice craze right now. It's always been a favorite of mine so I'm glad people are reading Alice in Wonderland again. The images are from vintage images, Sherrie Drummond, and Ilene Alexeeva.
Here is a pillow I made last week. I just need to stuff it. It's pretty good for my first quilting experience. I'm terrible at freemotion quilting but the owl pattern itself is so cute and I love the colors. The pattern is from the book: Be Attitudes by Nancy Halvorsen. I'm hooked on her patterns!!!
It was deveolped in the 80's by a photographer named (Michael?) Orton who took two slides of the same thing, one being out of focus, put them together and printed. It makes this beautiful, etheral photo. Click on the image to enlarge.. It looks much better that way :)
Lisa Kaus is one of my favorite mixed media artists. I found a banged up canvas in my closet and decided to try to recreate her work. I'm not crazy about the dark green thing on the right side but it was too late to fix it. Her work is usually on wood. I used collage elements, and oil pastels. I'm going to coat it with beeswax tomorrow...
